I liked Foundations. It had all the different aspects of a good ghost story in it and it was enjoyable to read. The premise was interesting with the idea of everything happening at a brand new group of homes being built and how the ghost came around.
My only issue with the story is that it started out very slow and can risk losing readers. The initial conflict of the story doesn’t start till quite a few pages in. I continued reading because I know and love DeAnna Knippling’s work but for those who are new, they could lose interest in the first few pages. This story doesn’t feel like it is meant to scare you but be more of a “There is more in this world than you realize” type and I like how it felt. As anyone who knows me, I’m not a fan of stories that try to scare though I’ll read them at times.
For those of you who like her work, I recommend reading through this story. It’s worth it.
